Road to E.B.T. RMP Program

Hey Everyone! everyone had a great summer. We are now on the cusp of the Fall season. And with new season's new things happen. As a small business owner I am always looking for ways to serve and connect with the people in my community. In 2022 a friend sent me a message and it was a pilot programs for food trucks to accept E.B.T for hot meals for individuals who are enrolled in the RMP program. I thought well it might be a long shot but I decided to fill out the application anyway. Surprising, my application was accepted. I was excited to be able to offer these rare services too everyone in my community.

However life has to have balance, Right?

Well, after being approved and feeling excited my application was denied! I was devasted. I will admit it was mainly my fault. At the time the food truck had major mechanical issues that had to be addressed before Stokesbbq truck could be approved. So now in hindsight I had the horse before the cart. But that's the great part about being a business owner. Everyday brings new challenges and those new challenges make you have to think differently and strategically for each unique situation. So I decided to put the repairs first and do what needed to be done to get the business back up and running, Money was tight and the repairs were very costly, But I did it! AND I decided to revisit the application. This time around Stokes Bbq Truck was in a better position. Upon making some calls and a few emails. I found out that my application was the very 1st application that they received and that it was on hold just awaiting for the required documents to move on to the next process.

The decision to give up was never on my mind. I just had to believe that my community would want me to keep pushing for this service. As of today I am happy to say that Stokes Bbq Truck was the first food truck that applied, we were the first food truck they denied and we are the first food truck in the STATE to be approved! What a way to connect to my community and its a real blessing that I can provide family style home made meals that are made with love.

Thank you Ms. Debra & Hans, And all the people who made this possible.

Most of all, Thank you ALL for the years of continued support.

Best,

Chef Latricia Stokes
